Now you can finally stop worrying about every little spill and drop.

Why This Smart Surface Beats the Rest

Many homeowners assume real wood is the only path to a beautiful house.
However, this clever multi-layer synthetic wood alternative actually performs much better in high-traffic areas.
It gives you the warmth of oak or maple without the constant stress of water damage.
Which means you get to spend your weekends relaxing instead of polishing floorboards.

This budget-friendly option consists of a tough wear layer over a high-density fiberboard core.
On top of that, a high-resolution photographic image mimics real timber with shocking accuracy.
This clever design resists fading under the bright Midwestern sun that streams through your windows.
So your rooms stay bright and beautiful for decades to come.

We know how much you value a home that feels warm and welcoming.
Choosing our skilled team ensures every single plank clicks together perfectly.
This precision prevents annoying gaps where dirt and moisture love to hide.
Ultimately, you get a seamless surface that feels solid under your feet.

Feature of the Material Direct Benefit to You
Scratch-Resistant Wear Layer Allows pets and kids to play without leaving ugly marks.
Click-Lock Design Ensures a tight fit that prevents moisture from seeping under.
Affordable Material Cost Saves you thousands compared to solid hardwood.
Low Maintenance Surface Saves time because you only need a quick sweep and damp mop.

What to Expect During Your Home Transformation

Preparation is the absolute secret to a flawless finish that lasts for years.
First, we inspect your subfloor to make sure it is completely flat and dry.
If we find any bumps or dips, we level them out before laying a single plank.
This careful prep work prevents your new floor from bouncing or making weird clicking noises.

Next, we roll out a high-quality underlayment across the entire room.
This thin cushion acts as a moisture barrier and absorbs the sound of footsteps.
This lets you walk around at night without waking up the entire household.
It also adds a layer of cozy insulation against the freezing winter cold.

After that, we carefully lay down the tongue-and-groove planks with precise expansion gaps.
These tiny spaces around the perimeter allow the material to breathe as seasons change.
Because of this, your floor will never buckle or warp when the summer humidity hits.
We cover those gaps with beautiful baseboards or quarter-round molding for a polished look.

Common Questions About the Setup Process

Many folks ask us if they can install this material over existing vinyl or tile.
Often, the answer is yes, as long as the old surface is flat and secure.
This clever shortcut saves you the massive headache and cost of ripping out old floors.
We will inspect your current setup during our visit to give you the safest recommendation.

Another common worry is how well these planks handle kitchen spills and bathroom moisture.
Fortunately, modern manufacturing has made these materials highly water-resistant.
We use special sealant in splash-prone areas to give you extra peace of mind.
This means you can enjoy the gorgeous look of timber in places where real wood would rot.

You might also wonder how long the entire process will take from start to finish.
Most standard-sized rooms take our fast-working crew just a single day to complete.
Which means you can go to work in the morning and come home to a brand new room.
We work efficiently so you can get back to your normal routine without delay.

Why DIY Might Cost You More in the Long Run

It is tempting to watch a few online videos and try to tackle this project yourself.
However, without the proper specialty saws and spacers, things can go wrong very quickly.
One wrong cut can ruin an entire box of expensive planks and blow your budget.
Worse yet, uneven subfloors will cause the joints to break after just a few months of walking on them.

Our experienced crew possesses the professional tools needed for tricky cuts around door jambs.
We undercut the wooden trim so the planks slide underneath for a super clean look.
This professional touch is what separates a messy amateur job from a stunning masterpiece.
Save your knees and back the pain by letting us handle the heavy lifting.

By hiring our local team, you also get a solid warranty on our craftsmanship.
If something does not feel right, we will come back and fix it without charging you a dime.
This protection gives you ultimate confidence that your investment is safe.
You can sit back, sip some sweet tea, and watch your home transform before your eyes.

AC ratings, decoded

Every laminate plank carries an abrasion class. It says more about how the floor will age than the photo on the box does, so we quote with it, not around it.

RatingWhere it belongsWhat it takes in stride
AC3Bedrooms, closets, home offices with a chair matEveryday footsteps, furniture on felt pads, the vacuum on Sundays
AC4Living rooms, kitchens, hallways, stair landingsKids, dogs, dropped keys, the daily route between couch and fridge
AC5Entryways, home businesses, rentals, busy stairsGrit walked in from outside, rolling office chairs, tenants you never meet

AC1 and AC2 exist too; we simply do not lay them, because the savings at the register come back as dull traffic lanes within a couple of years.

Laminate or vinyl plank? Both honest

We install laminate all day, and it is still not the answer to every room. Here is the comparison we walk through at the kitchen table, with nothing rounded in our favor.

LaminateVinyl plank
WaterModern boards shrug off spills that get wiped up; standing water at a leaky dishwasher is still its weak spot.Fully waterproof through the core, which is why laundry rooms and full bathrooms lean vinyl.
Comfort and soundStiffer core, more solid underfoot, and quieter than its reputation once a proper underlay goes in.Softer and warmer to bare feet, but thin planks telegraph every dip in the subfloor.
PriceMore floor per dollar at the same thickness, and the realistic wood looks start cheaper.Comparable at the low end; the rigid-core boards worth owning cost noticeably more.
RepairA click-lock plank can be swapped; keep one spare box in the garage and a scratch is an afternoon fix.Glued-down planks mean solvent and patience; click vinyl swaps much like laminate does.

If your project reads vinyl after that table, we will say so during the measure and you keep the comparison for free.

Six trades folded into one visit

Underlayment and vapor film

01

Underlayment and vapor film

The quiet half of a quiet floor: foam or fiber underlay with taped seams, plus a moisture film wherever concrete sits below.

Click-lock laying

02

Click-lock laying

Planks angled, clicked and tapped home with staggered joints, so the sight line down the room stays dead straight.

Cuts and scribing

03

Cuts and scribing

Door casings undercut so boards slide beneath, pipes ringed with collars, last rows ripped to width instead of forced.

Baseboards and quarter round

04

Baseboards and quarter round

The expansion gap disappears behind clean trim, mitered at the corners and caulked where the wall waves.

Stairs and landings

05

Stairs and landings

Tread and riser kits with proper nosing, glued and screwed, because a stair takes more abuse than any floor below it.

Subfloor leveling

06

Subfloor leveling

Grinding the high spots and pouring self-leveler into the low ones before a single plank leaves its box.

A floor is only as good as its subfloor

Laminate floats. It is not nailed and not glued, which is exactly why it goes down fast, and exactly why it copies every flaw underneath. A hollow click under your heel, a seam that opens by the window, a plank that rocks by the couch: nine times out of ten the story started below the boards.

So the level comes out before the saw does. We check flatness against the 3/16 inch in 10 feet rule, grind ridges, fill dips with self-leveling compound and let it cure. The underlay then earns its keep twice over, softening footfall sound for the room below and evening out what the compound did not catch.

The last quiet detail is the gap you will never see. Laminate grows and shrinks with the seasons, so every wall, pipe and doorway keeps a small expansion space, and long open stretches get a transition profile. Skip those and summer humidity will fold a hallway into a tent; leave them and the floor stays flat for decades. They are in every quote we write, not on the options list.

Self-leveling compound poured across a subfloor before laminate goes down

Four steps, one straight floor

  1. 1

    Measure and a written price

A fitter walks the rooms with a laser measure, checks the subfloor and leaves you a square-foot price on paper. No estimate ranges that grow later.

  2. 2

    Boxes in, old floor out

The planks acclimate in the rooms for about 48 hours while we pull the old covering and level whatever the laser flagged.

  3. 3

    Laying day

Underlay, film, then row after row, clicked tight and cut clean at every casing. Most single floors go down between breakfast and dinner.

  4. 4

    Trim and the walkthrough

Baseboards, thresholds, a vacuum pass and a walk through every room together. You keep the leftover planks for future repairs.

The square-foot numbers, posted

Line itemUsual rangeWhat sits inside it
Laminate installation, per sqft$2.50 - $4.50Labor for click-lock laying with standard underlay included.
Old floor removal, per sqft$0.60 - $1.50Carpet pulls out cheap; glued wood and tile sit at the top end.
Subfloor leveling, per sqft treated$1.00 - $3.00Only the flagged low spots pay, never the whole room.
Stairs, per step$45 - $95Tread, riser and nosing, fitted, glued and screwed.
Baseboard and quarter round, per linear foot$2.00 - $4.00Supplied primed or color-matched to the boards.
Small-job minimum$350Keeps a single hallway or one bedroom fair for both sides.

The planks themselves ride on top of these figures and depend on the board you fall for; the written quote lists them on their own line, so you can swap styles without redoing the math.

Room by room, honestly

Bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and home offices are laminate country, no caveats: warm looks, an AC rating matched to the traffic and a surface that forgives chair legs and dog claws better than the veneer floors it imitates.

Kitchens work well with a water-resistant board, sealed edges and a mat where the sink drips. Full bathrooms are the one room where we tap the brakes: daily steam and puddled water shorten any laminate's life, and we would rather point you to a different surface there than sell you a floor with a countdown on it. Powder rooms, with no tub in sight, are fine.

Asked before the first box is opened

When can furniture go back on the floor?

The moment the last plank clicks. A floating floor needs no glue to cure, so the couch returns the same evening and the bedroom sleeps in its own bed that night. Heavy aquariums and pianos get felt pads and a second pair of hands, not a waiting period.

Why do the boxes have to sit in the room first?

Planks leave a cold warehouse and arrive in your heated rooms. Two days of acclimating lets them finish their expanding before they are locked together, instead of after, which is how gaps and peaks are born.

Can you lay laminate over my old tile?

Usually, and it saves the demolition line on the quote. The grout lines disappear under the underlay if the tile is flat and sound. Over carpet the answer is always no; the padding flexes and the locks work themselves open.

Do you move the furniture?

We work room by room, shifting pieces to the finished side as the floor advances, so nobody rents a storage unit for a two-day job. Emptying closets and small breakables ahead of us is the one favor we ask.

Is a thicker plank automatically better?

No. A flat subfloor with an 8 mm AC4 board outlives a wavy one with 12 mm every time. Thickness buys sound and feel; the AC rating buys longevity; the leveling buys both. We spend your budget in that order.

What happens if one plank gets damaged in a year?

You hand us the spare box we left behind. A click-lock floor unzips to the wounded plank and closes again, and a repair like that is an afternoon, not a renovation.
